Pre Construction Flow & Pressure Testing

Fire Hydrant Commissioning (AS2419)
Commissioning fire hydrant systems gives plumbers and builders the documentation they need to prove the job has been done right. We talk, we work to your schedule and we avoid second callouts.
Fire Hydrant Maintenance (AS1851)
Building owners and occupiers are responsible for keeping maintenance records up to date and on hand. We talk to you to keep you informed, minimise your compliance risk and produce the best reports in the business while keeping your systems functioning.
Water Utility Maintenance and Testing
Maintaining reticulation mains, hydrants and valves allows water utilities to deliver safe fire and drinking water to the communities they serve. HTC test the flow and pressure of your hydrants in a safe and community minded manner to allow efficient hydrant replacement planning.
OUR HISTORY
Keith Lees founded Hydraulic Testing and Certification in 2006 conducting water mains and fire hydrant flow and pressure testing for his own hydraulic consulting company. He started testing for his hydraulic consultant colleagues and continued to expand in the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane. Dan took ownership in 2015 with the aim to maintain Keith’s reputation in the industry. Since 2015 we have built a small but dedicated team who use the most up to date technology and equipment to offer a consistent and high quality service.
HTC Group believes in the small but valuable role we play supporting our clients in all things relating to fire hydrants and reticulation mains.
REBRANDING
As of 2022 Hydraulic Testing and Certification are now trading as HTC Group!
We have expanded into fire maintenance which comes a new brand image and website. We are excited to enter the fire maintenance market and hope to build more positive relationships with building owners in Queensland. UpTick is being used to ensure compliance with the QDC documentation, and an internally built system is doing something I have never seen before... producing readable fire maintenance reports! MEET THE TEAM
Daniel Barwick
Director & Engineer
Dan is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer (RPEQ and CPEng) with an understanding of fluid dynamics and a practical understanding of fire hydrant systems, AS2419, AS1851 and the associated legislation. He is a member of the AHSCA, NFIA, BPEQ and has presented to the AHSCA and helped develop hydrant testing methodologies with water Utilities in Queensland and Victoria. He is continuing to learn and is always appreciative of support from members of the industry.
Zenda Johnston
Operations Manager & Business Development Manager
Zenda has been with HTC Group since May 2017 and is dedicated to ensuring the daily business operations run smoothly. With over 19 years of experience working in various roles in Construction, Dredging & Marine Construction, Legal and Real Estate industries, Zenda is driven by building strong relationships as she believes it is the foundation of everything she does, both professionally and personally.
QUALIFICATIONS
QBCC licence 15018810 (Fire Protection - Water-Based Fire System Stream). Details of how the QBCC licencing changes impacted hydrant testing contractors and HTC can be found in This article.
RPEQ Registration. HTC can also certify and maintain fire hydrant systems as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland under RPEQ registration 16239. Section 42C(1) of the QBCC Act states that work can be conducted under the Professional Engineers Act.

GIVING BACK
HTC donates a small percentage of our profits to the Shantipara Association for Education in the remote town of Satkhira, Chittagong District in Bangladesh. The Shantipara Association for Education was established in 2009 and their first target was for "no child to miss Primary School (grade 1 to 5)”. That goal has now been achieved and 100% of the children in the area are completing Primary School. More exciting is that four students have graduated from college and two have returned to help teach the students. Donations have contributed to a number of initiatives aimed at meet the needs of the community.
In 2016 and 2019 we donated books, bags and stationary to make educating that little bit easier.
From October 2019 until completion in March 2021 we have been constructing a third level on the school building. The extra space will allow students to continue studying throughout the wet season.
In May of 2021 we donated sacks of rice, potatoes, lentils, onions and oil to help people living on the fringes meet their basic needs.
